I have had my own website for around 2 years now, and have periodically changed the design of it to incorporate changes in taste and circumstances. My first website, Version 1.0 was introduced during my final year at University, when PHP development was all new to me. The design of it was to be simple, easy to implement, and was created with the help of my friend Jamie Furness, whom helped me to learn basic PHP programming. It incorporated a lot of the things that are important to me, including my profile, pictures and media collection (when it was being hosted on my own server).
The implementation changed dramatically after I had completed University when I decided to use Wordpress. The main reasons for this were because of its “backend”, which makes for the easy editing, creation and deletion of pages without the need to fiddle with the files. I decided to use a template from a previous theme as an example to create what is the design for Version 2.0
The current Version 3.0 that you see is a theme that I stumbled across when I was surfing, in which I significantly modified to fit in with my taste. It has many neat features that are not incorporated in Version 2.0, including wide use of the JQuery Libraries, of which I am a big fan.
